1.1. Double-fisted Mousing
Recent versions of Linux (recent being the last decade or so) support a generic human input device layer and a mouse device which aggregates events from all mice: /dev/input/mice. Most distributions long ago replaced this as the default mouse instead of trying to work out a specific mouse or using the default PS/2 mouse /dev/psaux.
I am left-handed and while I write with my left hand, I do a number of things as a right-handed person would, such as playing guitar. I can also use a mouse with my right hand with a dexterity comparable to using my left hand. I have noticed that my back aches (usually a tightness of my rhomboids).
